Starting at around 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9, traffic on northbound Interstate 83 around mile marker 42 in Lemoyne, Cumberland County will be restricted to a single lane.
A repair crew will remove a portion of an overhead sign that was damaged during the afternoon of Jan. 8.
The limited I-83 access will occur just prior to the John Harris Memorial Bridge over the Susquehanna River
A portion of the overhead sign structure hangs less than 16 feet above the pavement and is at risk of striking a vehicle or its load if it is too tall.
The left and center lanes will be closed for this operation from 9 a.m. until roughly noon. (There is a fourth northbound lane, but this is intended for exiting to 2nd Street in Harrisburg on the east side of the river.)
This portion of northbound I-83 carries 62,499 vehicles on a daily basis. Trucks account for 10% of this traffic volume.
