MYERSTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) -

A home health aid has been arrested for stealing nearly $300 from a patient suffering from the onset of dementia, state police said in a press release.

Cheryl Louise Fisher, 45, was charged with two counts of theft. Fisher was a home health aid from Visiting Angels Nursing Service, which was hired by the victim's family to visit twice a week.

Bill Schoenberger, executive director and owner of Visiting Angels of Greater Lebanon Valley, said his company has cooperated with the investigation.

"I want to stress that we fully cooperated with the client and state police when we were informed that we had a possible situation," Schoenberger said. "We detest this. She was terminated immediately upon us learning what was going on. We fully screen all our employees."

Fisher was arrested on Jan. 8 for stealing $160 from the victim's residence on Hilltop Road in Jackson Township. Fisher was also charged with stealing $130 from the victim on December 31.

Fisher is awaiting arraignment at Lebanon County Central Booking.

The investigation is ongoing.
