Man to spend life behind bars for aunt's murder

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

An Adams County man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for the brutal murder of his aunt.

Jonathan Leonard, 25, was sentenced Tuesday. He pleaded guilty but mentally ill to first degree murder.

Leonard admits that last April he sexually assaulted, choked and beat 64-year-old Christiana Leonard in her McSherrystown home. Police said he then stole her car and jewelry.
