Police arrest man for stealing 17k pounds of steel

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Police said they have arrested the man who stole $17,000 pounds of steel in Cumberland County.

Police said 20-year-old Aaron Babner of Shippensburg stole the steel piping from a construction site in Hampden Township.

The steel was being used to prevent trench collapses during a sewer pipe replacement project on Trindle Road.

The steel is worth $80,000 and police said Babner did sell some of it.
