VINTON, Va. (AP) - More than 300 acres
of woods and fields near Vinton will be protected from development.
It is reported that Al Hammond and his family have granted conservation
easements to the Blue Ridge Land Conservancy and the Virginia Outdoors
Foundation to protect 330 acres on Glenburn farm.
Conservancy executive director David Perry says the easements also will
preserve views from the Blue Ridge Parkway and help protect the endangered
Roanoke log perch.
