Man struck by tractor-trailer on Route 30 near Columbia

COLUMBIA, Pa. (WHTM) -

A 57-year-old man was seriously injured when he was struck by a tractor-trailer Wednesday afternoon on Route 30 in Lancaster County.

West Hempfield Township police said the man had parked along the westbound berm just east of the Malleable Road overpass near Columbia and apparently stepped into the travel lane.

He was sent to Lancaster General Hospital and was listed in critical condition. His name was not immediately released.

The crash closed Route 30 West for about two hours.

Police said they are still attempting to determine the manner in which the man entered into the travel lane.
