UPDATE: Rescuers Beginning to Lower Injured Hiker from Devil's Marbleyard

UPDATE: 7:30 p.m.

Rockbridge Co, VA - Crews are now beginning the process of lowering the injured hiker that was missing earlier Saturday out of Devil's Marbleyard, according to Rockbridge County Emergency Operations Manager Robert Foresman.

Additional resources called in from the state have been stood down.

UPDATE: 5:39 p.m.

Rockbridge Co, VA - Emergency crews in Rockbridge County were still trying to rescue a hiker that went missing Saturday morning as of 5:30 Saturday evening.

Robert Forseman, the Emergency Management Coordinator for Rockbridge County, says the 26-year-old man was reported missing around 11:30 a.m.

Forseman says a group was hiking in Devil's Marbleyard when they suddenly realized a member of their party was missing.

Rockbridge County emergency crews responded with rescue teams and search dogs.

At around 3:15 Saturday afternoon, they located the man on some rocks in Devil's Marbleyard.

Forseman says the man had fallen on the rocks and lost consciousness for a while.

Officials on the scene also say the man has a history of cardiac problems, but he is stable now.

Forseman says crews are working on a way to carry the man off the rocks, and it will probably take another couple hours to get him to safety.

Rockbridge Co, VA - A 26 year old male hiker has been found on a group of rocks in Devil's Marbleyard.

According to Rockbridge County Emergency Manager Robert Foresman, the missing hiker was discovered around 3:15 p.m. Saturday. He was hiking with a ground of friends, when he meandered off on his own.

Foresman says the hiker has a history of cardiac problems, but he isn't sure whether or not the hiker's health is at issue so they are trying to get him back to safety as fast as possible.

Crews from around the area have been brought in to help with the rescue.
