SPRING GROVE, Pa. (WHTM) -
A York County police department is now accepting unwanted prescription drugs in a drop box at their office.
"The abuse of prescription medicines has surpassed that of illegal street
drugs in our area," Southwestern Regional Police Department said in a press release. "When unused and unwanted medicines are kept in the
home after an illness, they may be susceptible to use by others than
what was originally intended."
Before dropping off medications, residents should remove personal information from the containers. The police department cannot accept medications from businesses, hydrogen peroxide, aerosol cans, thermometers or needles.
The lobby of the department is open Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except on holidays.
