Man, 31, charged after inhaling dust remover, assaulting police officer

HANOVER, Pa. (WHTM) -

West Manheim Township Police have charged 31-year-old Kipp Ordean Wentz of Glenville with aggravated assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, retail theft, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and illegal use of solvents.

An officer responded to the Walmart on Baltimore Pike after it was reported that a man was inhaling dust remover in the restroom.Employees called 911 after noticing a strong chemical odor towards the back of the store that burned their throats and eyes.

Upon checking the men's restroom they found Wentz in a stall inhaling dust remover.

The responding officer arrived and found Wentz locked in a stall huffing two cans of dust remover he had taken from the store. Wentz refused to unlock the door, and the officer kicked it in.

Police said that Wentz then aggressively resisted and fought the officer, who then tased Wentz and handcuffed him.

During the struggle the officer's glasses were damaged and Wentz received a small abrasion on his face.

Wentz was transported to Central Booking and arraigned. Bail was set at $50,000.
