Latest Update: 12:00PM 1/15/13
THIS AFTERNOON: Cloudy, Cool, Raw. Hi 39.
TONIGHT: Wintry Mix. Snow North, Rain South, Sleet/Icing In Between. Lo 31.
WEDNESDAY: AM Flurries/Freezing Rain, Then Mostly Cloudy. Hi 39.
The warm bubble over the Eastern U.S. is shrinking as colder air begins to slowly sink southward. While temperatures are still expected to be a tad warmer than average today, we will still be able to pull enough cool air in for some wintry weather tonight.
The daylight hours ahead will remain cloudy and raw as a second wave of low pressure develops along a stalled front to our south. This round of precipitation will impact the entire viewing area tonight through Wednesday morning. It's likely that areas north of Harrisburg will see more of a light snow/sleet accumulation, while areas south and east of Harrisburg will get a soaking rain with some sleet. This mini system will likely cause some tricky travel for Wednesday morning. For a complete snowfall map and other details about tonight's storm, join us on our Facebook page at facebook.com/abc27weather or on StormTrack Center 24/7 (stream this channel by clicking on the "Live Weather" link).
The rest of the week will feature dry and seasonal weather. Looking ahead to next week, there are promising signs of a round of arctic air to spill south into the Mid-Atlantic starting Sunday. Winter's coldest may be yet to come!
