Harrisburg, York mayors announce attendance at Obama press conference
WASHINGTON, D.C. (WHTM) -
Harrisburg Mayor Linda Thompson and York Mayor Kim Bracey announced this morning that they would attend President Barack Obama's press conference on gun violence in Washington, D.C. this morning.
However, abc27 has since learned that Thompson was not at the press conference. Thompson said she was in another meeting at the time.
Both Bracey and Thompson are in the nation's capitol for a meeting with the U.S. Conference of Mayor this week.
"President Obama's bold and comprehensive plan to end gun violence in this country is comprised of sensible solutions that people on all sides of this debate can agree upon," Thompson said in a press release.
Vice President Joe Biden, who Obama tagged to lead a task force on gun violence after the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School last month, also appeared with the president.
