2 horses perish in Saturday morning shed fire near Jonestown
JONESTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) -
When he arrived at the fire just after 8 o'clock this morning, Bunker Hill Fire Company Chief Rick Kreitzer said the shed was fully engulfed.
The building, which served as a horse barn and storage shed, was a total loss and two horses perished. The two-alarm fire broke out on the 400 block of North Lancaster Street near the intersection of Lancaster Street and U.S. Route 22.
The roof of the shed collapsed, which made it more difficult for firefighters to get to the flames, Kreitzer said his crew had to tear off the building's metal siding before they could successfully fight the blaze.
The cause of the fire appears to have been electrical but was definitely accidental, Kreitzer said.
