Harrisburg church burglarized for the second time in a week

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Harrisburg city church has been burglarized -- again.

For the second time in a week Bank Memorial Church on 6th Street was broken into. The thieves cut the security system wires over the front and back doors and made off with the copper wire from the heater, said Associate Pastor Geraldine Crystal.

Crystal said the burglary happened sometime Thursday night and was discovered Friday morning. The building is now without heat as Central Pennsylvania faces the coldest week of the season.

Crystal said she's shocked that her church, which has a congregation of 50 and has been in the city for more than 50 years, was burglarized twice this week.

Police say the first break in occurred sometime Sunday night into Monday morning. That time, thieves also cut the security system wires and got away with copper pipes, a guitar, a drum set and sound equipment.
