Police are investigating a shooting incident at South 17th and Chestnut Streets in Harrisburg.
On Jan. 20 around 4:30 p.m. officers were dispatched to the Harrisburg Hospital emergency room on a report that a man was being treated for a gunshot wound.
The 18-year-old victim said that he had been helping his cousin who was afraid of being assaulted by a group of men. As he walked with his cousin away from the area, he was shot in the back by someone with a shotgun.
Police began an investigation in the area of South 17th and Chestnut Streets where they spoke with several people.
Eyewitnesses said that a young man with a sawed-off shotgun fired once at the victim after an argument. Fortunately the victim was far enough away from the shooter that the shotgun pellets caused minimal damage.
Officers are still hoping to interview witnesses. Some people did not wish to provide testimony.
