NEW FREEDOM, Pa. (WHTM) -
Police have two suspects in custody following a robbery at St. John's The Baptist Catholic Church in New Freedom.
According to police, two men entered the church on Dec. 24, 2012. One of the men took a wallet from the
purse of a 78-year-old woman while she took her jacket off and
prepared for services.
The victim saw the man take her wallet and confronted him. He then shoved the
victim backwards into a wall, causing her to fall to the
ground and injure herself.
Both men fled the scene in a green pick-up truck.
A detective investigating the incident recognized the descriptions of the men and their vehicle from previous arrests years ago.
Police were then able to obtain arrest warrants for two brothers:
57-year-old Victor Paul Sorrentino of Dundalk, Md. and
54-year-old Gregory Robert Sorrentino of Joppa, Md.
Victor Sorrentino turned himself in to police on Tuesday, Jan. 22. He was arraigned and committed to York County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Gregory Sorrentino is currently incarcerated in Baltimore County and awaiting extradition to York.
