Dusting of snow creates slick commute

LEMOYNE, Pa. (WHTM) -

An overnight dusting of snow has created several traffic problems around the Capitol Beltway.

Several accidents were reported early Thursday morning.  At least three crashes were reported on Route 581 in both directions, from the I-83 split to the route 11/15 interchange.

I-83 northbound is also a mess with at least three crashes reported between Limekiln Road and 581 split.  Traffic on I-83 north is backed up for several miles throughout Cumberland and northern York Counties.  It's recommended that drivers find an alternate route.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike also reported several crashes including one eastbound near the I-81 interchange in Carlisle and westbound near the I-83 interchange in York County.

The snow also caused several accidents on secondary roadways.  Several school districts enacted a two-hour delay because of the conditions.
