MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Officials are investigating a fatal fire at a residence in Mechanicsburg.

Crews were called to a home on the 4700 block of Trindle Road in Hampden Township around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Cumberland County public information officer John Bruetsch confirmed a body was found inside the home, but said any further information will come from the coroner's office on Monday.

Firefighters were able to put out the flames quickly, but there was extensive damage inside the residence. Officials have not yet released details about the incident, including the name of the deceased or how the fire started.

The coroner and the state police fire marshal are investigating.

This is the second time in only a few months that crews were called to a fire at this same house. On November 29, a woman was sent to the hospital after jumping out of a back window to escape a fire that broke out at that location.

This is still a developing story. Karissa Shatzer will have the latest on abc27 News at 6.
