HERSHEY, Pa. (WHTM) -
A section of Cocoa Avenue in Hershey was closed Tuesday morning because of a small natural gas leak.
Cocoa Avenue, also known as Route 743, was closed between Governor Road and Elm Avenue while UGI crews worked to find the source of the leak.
The roadway has since reopened.
"It's too soon to tell what caused this," UGI spokesman Mike Fessler said, "but as we
turned off the gas main, massive tree roots were around the gas main and
that is a probable cause, but right now, we don't know yet."
Fessler said the leak did not affect homes or businesses, but gas service was shut off to six customers while the repair was completed.
