Police: 18-year-old Harrisburg man arrested for driving stolen cars

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Police arrested an 18-year-old man from Harrisburg after he was found driving a stolen car.

On Monday at around 6:45 a.m., Susquehanna Township Police received a report of a vehicle theft that had just occurred in the 3400 block of Schoolhouse Lane.

The victim told police that he had started his vehicle in order to warm it up. He had gone back inside his residence, but when he returned five minutes later, the vehicle was missing.

About three hours later, a detective saw the stolen vehicle being driven in the 1900 block of Zarker Street.

The vehicle was followed as it drove around the neighborhoods near Market Street, and it eventually slid on the snow covered roadway and struck a curb on Hale Street. The driver then fled on foot.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

A follow-up investigation led police to identify the driver as Darell Aikens, 18, of the 1800 block of Park Street in Harrisburg.

Aikens was taken into custody where he admitted to driving the stolen car, as well as to driving another stolen car that was recovered last week in the same area.

Harrisburg Police charged Aikens with two counts of receiving stolen property. He is currently in Dauphin County Prison.
