Three young men were arrested for shooting a potato gun into a York County home early Tuesday morning after police recognized them from surveillance photos from a grocery store, according to Northern York County Regional Police.
Police arrested Cody James Cosgrove, 19; Dakota Falkenroth, 18; and John Whitecomb, 18 after they discovered two of the men purchased two five-pound bags of potatoes earlier that evening.
Police were originally called to the 2900 block of Village Square Drive in Dover Township at 12:14 after a potato shot at the home flew through the exterior and interior walls and landed in a room with two adults and their two-month-old child. No one was injured.
Officers were then called to the scene of a second incident, in which a potato had been fired into the back of a minivan on the 3000 block of Hadley Drive, about a mile away. The van sustained minor damage.
From the surveillance photos, a police officer recognized one of the suspects and a witnesses identified another. They have been charged with aggravated assault, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, criminal conspiracy, reckless endangerment, simple assault and criminal mischief.
The arrest of a fourth subject is pending.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Northern York County Regional Police Department at 717-292-3647.
