MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Police in Cumberland County are looking for a possible connection between a vehicle arson in Lower Allen Township early Thursday and the theft of an SUV from a nearby auto sales business.

Township Police Chief Frank Williamson said officers responded to the vehicle fire at the McDonalds restaurant at 1014 Wesley Drive at around 1:50 a.m.

He said officers ran the registration and found it had been reported stolen earlier in the day to state police in Northumberland County.

Williamson said officers were later dispatched to Clear Choice Auto Sales at 5200 Simpson Ferry Road for a burglary.

He said a dark blue 2005 Chevrolet Blazer LS was stolen from the lot, which is about one-and-a-half miles north of where the stolen vehicle was set on fire.

The Blazer did not have a registration plate at the time of the theft, he said.

Williamson said police believe the cases are related.

Anyone with information may call the Lower Allen Township Police Department at 717-238-9676.
