A North Lebanon Township home was completely destroyed this morning after a fire broke out between 7 and 8 a.m.
The home on the 3000 block of Tunnel Hill Road was fully engulfed in flames when crews from Ebenezar Fire Company arrived on scene. Chief Toby Gettler said they had to call in extra manpower and tankers to help fight the blaze.
"We had to call a lot of units out for manpower," Gettler said. "No hydrants in the area [so] we had to tanker the water in. We had 11 tankers at one time here getting water to the scene."
Water had to be brought in from a location about three quarters of a mile down the road, Gettler said.
The fire was under control before 9 a.m. but the home is a total loss. No injuries have been reported and the homeowners are being assisted by neighbors.
The cold weather and wind made it more difficult for his freighters to put out the two-alarm fire, Gettler said. The county fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
