Carlisle Borough discusses redevelopment plan

Posted: Updated:
CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) -

It was standing room only at Carlisle Borough Hall Monday night as many residents showed up to share ideas and ask questions regarding the redevelopment plan for the borough.

According to borough officials, the plan will create a unified vision for the redevelopment of the northwest quadrant of the borough, including three vacant properties; the former Masland plant, Carlisle Wheel and Tire, and Tyco Electronics.

Officials said the purpose of the meeting was to formally introduce the plan to the community, to publicly introduce representatives from Stromberg/Garrgian who will be overseeing the project, and to provide residents and business owners with an opportunity to learn more about the project and to ask questions.

Representatives with the borough and Stromberg/Garrigan did just that, providing a forum for people to truly make this a community project.

"This is not going to be done in a vacuum, we want input and feedback," Borough Council President Perry Heath said.

The plan is in the beginning stages. Borough leaders are also set to hold a public workshop that will last several days and run from March 11-14.

They said when all is said and done the project could add hundreds of jobs.
