MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Cumberland County man was arrested after emergency crews responded to a fire at his Lower Allen Township home.

Township police said the man who was renting the home in the 1900 block of Letchworth Drive, 31-year-old Sean Walton, was visibly under the influence during the incident Tuesday morning.

Walton was placed in a patrol car and began kicking out a rear window, police said. He was taken to the Cumberland County Prison on charges of institutional vandalism, possession of drug paraphernalia, possess of a controlled substance, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. Bail was set at $25,000.

"There have been some drug cases out of this house and there have been threats made out of this house, so we take it very seriously when we come down here," Lower Allen Township Police Chief Frank Williamson said.

Officials continue to investigate the cause of the fire, which apparently began in the attic.

Firefighters said flames were coming from a window and heavy smoke was throughout the second floor when they arrived at around 6 a.m., but they soon had the flames under control.

No injuries were reported.

Williamson said that during the initial response to the fire, a New Cumberland Fire Department engine struck an unoccupied car that had been parked illegally on Letchworth Drive. No one on the fire engine was injured.
