Lynchburg - Lynchburg College trailed by 10 early second half, but the Hornets stormed back to beat ODAC rival Roanoke College 61-55 Tuesday night at Lynchburg.
Shannon Allan led Hornets scoring with 15 points and tied for a game-high with nine rebounds. Katie Reeves was the only other Hornet in double figures with 11, she also grabbed eight rebounds.
Paxton Gwin netted a game-high 19 points to lead Roanoke and added five rebounds. Kelsey Smith notched 14 points on 4-of-6 three-point shooting.
The Hornets (13-8/8-5 ODAC) are back in action Thursday evening against Washington & Lee University at 7 p.m. The program's two seniors will be honored before the opening tip.
Third-year Lynchburg College Head Coach Abby Pyzik said "Our girls took a hit for a second and then we regrouped at halftime. And I thought our effort and our fight level were tremendous. I thought we had some big players step up and hit some big shots for us in the post in Chaney Forbush and Sarah Coon and I thought I was really, really proud."
