UVa Men Rout Clemson 78-41

Posted:

Charlottesville - Joe Harris scored 21 and Virginia used one of its best defensive efforts of the year to embarrass the Clemson Tigers 78-41.

The Cavaliers led Clemson 35-10 at the half, the lowest scoring in a half against UVa since Maryland did it in 1981.

Virginia's 37-point win is the Cavs' largest against an ACC opponent since a 43-point win over Duke in the 1983 ACC Tournament.  UVa extends its home winning streak to 13 games, their longest home streak since 14 in a row back in 2001.

Akil Mitchell added 16 points, Justin Anderson 14 as Virginia improves to 16-and-6 overall, 6-and-3 in the ACC.  UVa held Clemson to just 30.8 percent shooting for the game.

Thursday night's win avenges one of the Cavs' worst games of the season last month, when they lost by 15 at Clemson 59-44.
