From handguns to rifles, owners had their guns in tow on the steps of the state Capital for a Second Amendment rally.

Dozens of pro-gun supporters, young and old, heard from various speakers during the hour and a half long event Friday.

Those attending the rally, entitled the "National Patriots Party at the Capitols," asked legislators to not restrict guns. They said they are standing up for the rights of gun owners.

Many were fired up after a trio of Democratic lawmakers introduced a legislative package calling for tougher gun laws in Pennsylvania, including a ban on assault weapons.

Kristopher Kolesar took the day off and made the two-hour trip from Wilkes-Barre to Harrisburg for the first time. He attended the rally with his AK-47.

"You should stand up for what you believe in, too," Kolesar said. "If you are anti-gun, go to your anti-gun rallies. Even if you stand alone, stand up for what you believe in."

The rally was a part if a national effort. Events just like it were also staged Friday at state capitals all over the country.
