Danville Celebrates International Business Appreciation Day

Posted:

Danville, VA -- You can now see an addition to Bridge Street in Danville: nine international flags.

The city of Danville, the Danville-Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce, and the Danville Regional Foundation wanted to honor ten companies, from nine foreign countries with a flag ceremony. Collectively these businesses make up the largest employer in the area providing nearly 3,000 jobs.

During the ceremony, each of the businesses were presented with a proclamation. The Mayor even named February 12 International Business Appreciation Day in Danville.

"Look at those flags from nine international countries. With ten businesses, international businesses in our city. It's a major accomplishment and I'm very very happy," said Mayor Sherman Saunders.

They plan to add more flags when more foreign companies come to the area.
