Lynchburg, VA - Scattered rain showers are moving through areas north of Lynchburg today. Temperatures are generally warm enough for rain, while snow is falling in the Greenbrier Valley of West Virginia.
The snow is expected to remain in the highest elevations, but temperatures will be dropping later today. An inch of snow is possible in the Alleghany Highlands. Most of the area may see some sleet or snow mix in with the rain showers at times today, but no accumulations are expected except on the highest mountains.
Lynchburg, VA - A weak storm system moves through our region today. Look for scattered rain showers and cool conditions. The rain mixes over to wet snow in the mountains late day. At elevations above 3,000 feet, an inch of snow is possible. Temperatures in the 30s and 40s.
Lynchburg, VA - A storm system from our southwest will be moving into the ABC 13 viewing area Wednesday.
Clouds are already increasing across the region, and moisture will soon be moving in.
Right now, it appears temperatures will be warm enough for mainly rain for Lynchburg and Southside, with a wintry mix of snow, sleet, and rain for parts of the Roanoke Valley into the Alleghany Highlands Wednesday.
The rain could mix with sleet at times into Lynchburg Wednesday.
The area of low pressure responsible for the unsettled weather will be passing to our west, not to our east. The track will keep our area on the warmer side of the system. Still, enough cold air in the mountains may lead to a wintry mix for some.
Any accumulations are expected to be light and confined to the highest elevations.
Another system will try to develop this weekend, but the latest computer models point to too much cold air pushing the storm out to sea, instead of riding up the coast.
