The Pennsylvania Department of Health says widespread flu activity continues, but the number of cases reported last week dropped to less than half of the previous week.
The Health Department said 1,275 flu cases were reported last week, down from 2,736 cases reported during the week of January 27.
Flu cases among the elderly accounted for 22 percent of all reported cases, but nearly 70 percent of all reported hospitalizations.
Seventeen influenza-related deaths were reported in Pennsylvania last week. So far this flu season, 140 flu-related deaths have been reported in the state.
