Amherst Co, VA - Amherst County officials say no one has come forward to claim a horse they found wandering around earlier this month, and now they're going to court.
Officials picked up a chestnut stallion on February 5 on Boxwood Farm Road near the Amherst/Nelson County line.
No owner has come forward, so Thursday morning there will be a hearing at 9 a.m. in General District Court to rule the horse was abandoned.
After that the sheriff's office says they could sell the horse, to cover the costs of caring for it.
A local equine center has been keeping him.
