Police warn of scam in Chambersburg

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

State police are warning small business owners of a fraud scam in the Chambersburg area and other parts of Franklin County.

Police said small businesses have been receiving mailings and phone calls regarding advertising in the Chambersburg High School winter sports poster.

The company sending the requests, Sports Media of Milford, Conn., includes fake invoice and instructions to pay an outstanding bill of $99.50, police said.

Police said anyone who receives any such request is urged to ignore it.

They said the scam is taking place across the country in several states.
