'Amish Mafia' actor Alan Beiler to stand trial in police chase

NEW BLOOMFIELD, Pa. (WHTM) -

Alan Beiler, an actor in the Discovery Channel television show Amish Mafia, has waived his preliminary hearing on charges stemming from a high-speed chase that injured a state trooper in Perry County.

Beiler, 35, of Paradise, waived the hearing while in court Friday before District Judge Daniel McGuire, who forward the case to Perry County court for trial.

Beiler faces 34 criminal counts in the July 7 incident where authorities said Beiler led troopers on a pursuit from Route 22/322 into Duncannon Borough and then onto Route 11/15. The trooper pursuing Beiler was injured when he crashed into a highway  barrier.

The counts against Beiler include a felony charge of fleeing and eluding, four misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment, possession of a small amount of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Beiler also faces 24 summary offenses, including driving an unregistered vehicle and driving with a suspended license.
