Lancaster police said they arrested a man who assaulted his 22-year-old girlfriend and their 4-year-old son.
Messiah Burrell, 24, picked up the child by the neck and head and threw him onto the
sidewalk, causing the child to strike his head and shoulder on the
concrete, city police said.
He also choked his girlfriend and punched her in the face multiple times, according to police.
The victims were transported to a hospital for treatment. The
child was treated for contusions and a strained neck. The 22-year-old
woman was treated for a broken nose and other facial injuries, police said.
Burrell was arrested by officers who responded to the incident Thursday morning in the 500 block of N. Franklin Street. Police said he had recently moved to Lancaster from Philadelphia.
Burrell was charged with two counts each of aggravated assault and simple assault, in addition to endangering the welfare of a children and reckless endangerment.
was being held in Lancaster County Prison on $250,000 bail.
