MCCONNELLSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Fulton County woman will spend 2-4 years in prison for poisoning her boyfriend with eye drops.

Vickie Jo Mills, 33, of McConnellsburg, was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty to a single count of aggravated assault.

Mills initially was charged with 10 counts each of aggravated assault, simple assault, and reckless endangerment for repeatedly putting Visine drops into her boyfriend's water since 2009.

Her boyfriend, Thurman Nesbitt, had suffered from unexplained nausea and vomiting, elevating and dropping blood pressure, and difficulty breathing until tests revealed tetrahydrozoline, the main ingredient in eye drops, was in his blood.

According to court documents, Mills admitted to state troopers that she put eye drops in Nesbitt's drinking water but said she never meant to kill Nesbitt; she only wanted him to pay more attention to her.
