Harrisburg Mayor Linda Thompson announced last month that she would be running for a second term in this year's mayoral election.
So far there are three other candidates who have surfaced -- Nevin Mindlin, Dan Miller and Eric Papenfuse.
Papenfuse hosted an open house at his new campaign headquarters on North 3rd Street in Harrisburg.
Papenfuse owns the Midtown Scholar Bookstore and has served on the board of the Harrisburg Authority.
"We're going to focus on crime and safety," he said. "We're going to focus on improving education. But above all, we're going to model effective leadership."
Papenfuse says he would like to pattern city government after his bookstore to create a model climate in which people's views are valued.
"We've brought people together from both sides of the aisle and discuss them in a positive, up-lifting spirit."
