19-year-old pedestrian hit by car in Schuylkill Co.

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. (WHTM) -

State police are investigating an early morning crash involving a pedestrian.

Authorities reported that 19-year-old Joshua Rivera of Philadelphia was struck by a Chevrolet Aveo driven by 54-year-old Richard Mattes of Frackville.

The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on State Route 61 at University Drive in Schuylkill County.

Rivera was flown to Lehigh Valley Medical Center. The extent of his injuries is not known.

The investigation is ongoing.
