HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Authorities say a 30-year-old man was shot and killed in Harrisburg on Sunday.

Police were called to a parking lot in the 100 block of South Cameron Street around 4:20 a.m. and found the man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim, later identified as Uptown resident Matthew Dyson, was rushed to Penn State Hershey Medical Center where he died a short time later, police said.

A team of detectives was called out and investigated leads throughout the day. Dyson, 30, had apparently visited an after hours club in the building adjacent to the parking lot, police said.

This incident marks the third homicide of the year. The two other homicides also happened within the week.

Last Sunday night, 20-year-old Maurice Belton was charged after police said he shot and killed 21-year-old Davion Walker. Belton told police he was showing Walker the gun at a home on North 15th Street when it accidentally went off.

On Wednesday, 50-year-old Jose Vasquez was killed during a fight inside a home on Vernon Street with 55-year-old Jonathan Cornish. Police said Cornish used a three-pound mini sledge hammer to bludgeon Vasquez to death.

Cornish was arrested Friday after being released from Penn State Hershey Medical Center for stab wounds suffered during the fight.
