Police responded to a water main break on Cameron Street in Harrisburg on Tuesday evening.
Authorities closed off Cameron Street between Herr and Forester streets. The break happened in front of CAT headquarters.
City engineers are on the scene as they work to correct the problem, which they say has been pinpointed to a 12-inch main directly across from the Goodwill Store.
City Council Public Works chair Sandra Reid told abc27 no homes or businesses are experiencing a disruption to water services, due to availability of hydrants in the area. She said there is also no need for a boil water advisory at this time.
It will likely take two days to repair, according to city engineers. They say the cause of the break is unknown at this time, but vibrations in the road could have played a role.
Cameron Street will be shut down entirely for at least two blocks while the main is fixed. CAT buses will be the only vehicles allowed in and out in order to prevent a disruption to public transportation. Detours will be set up for drivers.
Officials tell abc27 that Cameron Street will reopen Wednesday night.
