Alliance for Excellence Holds Panel Discussion to Inspire Youth

Posted:

Danville, VA--  Dozens of people in Danville got together on Saturday morning at Cardinal Village, to get some inspiration.

The Danville Community College group, Alliance for Excellence, held their first panel discussion of the year.

The mayor, a member of city council, and other leaders in the community, shared setbacks they've had in life, and the ways they overcame them. The speakers hope by sharing their experiences with the youth, it will inspire them to focus on their aspirations.

"You have to let people know that, the things that happened to them, bad in their life, those little things don't determine who they're going to become," Cardinal Village Youth Center Director, Constance Covington said. "We all go through problems."

Covington also received an award from Alliance for Excellence on Saturday, for her outstanding dedication to youth in the community.
