Police release name of driver killed in York County crash

LEWISBERRY, Pa. (WHTM) -

One person was killed and another injured in a single vehicle crash Sunday night in York County.

It happened just before 9:30 near the intersection of Silver Lake Road and Emanuel Road in Fairview Township.

Dispatchers said the driver of the car hit a tree and died at the scene. Police identified him as 19-year-old Eric Shafer of Dover.

A passenger, 20-year-old Shawn Butler, of New Cumberland, was transported to Penn State Hershey Medical Center for treatment.

Police said it appears speed was a factor in the crash.
