Police are investigating a shooting incident Monday afternoon near Harrisburg High School.
Harrisburg Police Lt. Robert Fegan said investigators believe people in a van were shooting in an alley near the intersection of Hale Avenue and Market Street shortly before 3 p.m., just several minutes after classes at the high school had dismissed for the day.
It was not known what the shooters were targeting.
At least one vehicle was struck by the gunfire. A witness to the incident reported hearing about 12 gunshots.
Police said they are reviewing surveillance cameras at the high school and at the nearby Marshall School.
City police were also investigating a second gunshots fired incident Monday afternoon in the 1300 block of Kittatinny Street, and the discovery of shotgun shell casings at 19th Street and Bellevue Road.
No injuries were reported in either incident.
Fegan said the shotgun shells may be connected to the shots fired near the high school, but he said the shots fired on Kittatinny Street are likely an isolated incident.
