Mahmoud Awad
HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -
A suburban Harrisburg man has been arrested on allegations he agreed to pay for sex with an undercover officer posing as a 15-year-old prostitute.
Mahmoud Awad, 52, of Lower Paxton Township, was charged with patronizing a prostitute, corruption of minors, unlawful contact with a minor, attempted indecent assault, and attempted statutory sexual assault, according to Harrisburg police.
Police said detectives last week became aware that Awad was seeking to meet with teenage girls to engage in sex.
During the next few days, the detectives arranged for a woman to meet with Awad at a fast food restaurant, and Awad and the woman discussed his desire for teenage girls and prices for sex acts, police said.
The undercover officer posing as the prostitute later called Awad and arranged a meeting for sex. Awad met the officer at a local motel and agreed to pay her for sex acts, police said.
He was sent to Dauphin County Prison on $25,000 bail.
