CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Cumberland County woman is headed to trial on allegations she left her 20-day-old baby alone in a car while she was shopping at a Walmart store.

Nataliya M. Ward, 29, waived her preliminary hearing Thursday before District Judge Paula Correal, who scheduled a formal arraignment in county court for June 20.

Silver Spring Township police on January 9 charged Ward with endangering the welfare of a child and leaving a child unattended in a vehicle after an officer discovered the infant girl wrapped in a blanket and lying on the floor board behind the passenger's seat of the vehicle.

Police said Ward jogged up to the car a few minutes later and told the officer she ran into the store for only a few seconds because she needed to get food and didn't have anyone to help her.

According to court documents, surveillance video showed Ward leaving the parked car with a shopping cart and returning 10 minutes later.

Police said the baby was not harmed.
