HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -
There will be a police presence at several local schools Friday because of an online threat.
West Manheim Township police in York County sent out an alert overnight, saying a threat was made on a social media website about some sort of violent act at an elementary school somewhere in Pennsylvania.
Police said there was no indication that anything would happen locally and police said they don't think the threat is credible.
Officers will present at West Manheim Elementary School Friday as a precaution.
The Littlestown Area School District in Adams County is also taking measures to ensure safety.
"Please be assured there is no credible evidence to substantiate the information," school officials said in a statement on the district's website. "However, we have requested the Littlestown Borough Police presence to conduct safety checks and are putting in place other unspecified measures for Friday, March 1, 2013. The release of information at this time supports the ongoing law enforcement investigation. All buildings will operate on a normal schedule."
