Police: 3 robberies may be connected

HERSHEY, Pa. (WHTM) -

There have been 20 robberies over the last month-and-a-half in Lebanon County. Police have made some arrests, but they are still after a man they believe robbed three businesses.

Police believe the man robbed the Hess Express in Campbelltown on Saturday night, the Weis Market in Palmyra on Monday, and the Merle Norman Cosmetics Studio at the Briarcrest Square Shopping Village in Hershey on Thursday.

Deborah Hoffman runs the Paw Spa just a few doors down from the cosmetics studio.

"You know, we'd been in here working all day and the next thing you know, there's a bunch of cops in the parking lot," said Hoffman. "It's a very close knit community. For that to happen to her, it felt like it happened to us."

Derry Township police said the three armed robberies have a few things in common. Namely, the suspect description is very similar.

"There are some actions committed by the suspect that lead us to believed it may be the same person," said Derry Township Police Chief Patrick O'Rourke.

The cosmetics store robber was described as a man in his late teens or early 20's, who covered his face and used a hammer.

"We would like to bring this to a closure before somebody gets hurt or the suspect gets hurt," said O'Rourke. "We just caution everybody to remain vigilant as they would any other day of the year."

Which is exactly what the ladies at the Paw Spa are doing.

"No longer will there be one person in the shop. From now on, it's going to be at least two just for safety purposes," said Hoffman. "We've come up with a safe word that, if we're at the counter by yourself, you say the word and someone else will come out."

Police are offering a reward of up to $2,000 for any information leading to the suspect.
