
Thousands of faculty members at Pennsylvania's state-owned universities have begun voting on the ratification of their first contract in nearly two years.
The voting will continue through Wednesday at the 14 campuses, and the ballots will be counted Friday.
The 5,500 faculty members in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education have been working without a contract since June 2011.
The four-year agreement recommended by union leaders includes concessions on health care, but calls for pay raises of one or two percent in each of the last three years and allows for faculty input on class size.
