HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -
***Early Wednesday morning update - Latest model data supports our current snowfall predictions (see map). If we see any changes, we'll keep you posted.***
Northern Virginia and western Maryland is gearing up for a major March snowstorm for Wednesday. We expect to see some of the heavy snow reach into parts of the Midstate tomorrow, with much less for the northern half of Pennsylvania. As a result, our region will see a sharp gradient in snow accumulations.
The snow will begin shortly after midnight for Franklin and Adams counties, then spread north and east. It will slowly progress north, so some areas north of Harrisburg may not see snow until we get closer to sunrise.
This storm features a very sharp gradient in moisture (see snow map), which is why our region has a wide range of snow accumulations. We'll also have gusty winds of 15-25mph on Wednesday as this storm strengthens off the coast. The snow will taper off Wednesday evening.
