West York to keep police force

WEST YORK, Pa. (WHTM) -

It looks like West York Borough will keep its police department, according to a report by the York Dispatch.

Many people showed up at a public meeting Monday night, where borough council was considering eliminating its police force to save money. Nearby departments would have then provided service.

Some residents were not pleased with that idea.

"I don't know what you guys have against the cops, some of you guys are bullies, some of you guys feel like you are above everybody, but you're not," said resident Nathan Stewart. "I don't know what part of civil servant you don't understand, but you better read up on it."

Bids were received from two police departments interested in providing service to that area. According to the York Dispatch, council voted 4-3 to discard those unopened proposals.
