CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

The driver of a Martin's bread van and at least one child were injured in an accident in Chambersburg Tuesday afternoon involving a school bus.

The accident occurred just before 4 p.m. on the 6000 block of Route 11/Molly Pitcher Highway South when the van rear ended the bus, which was stopped with its red lights activated.

There were 16 Marion Elementary School Students on the bus. None of them were seriously injured.

State Police Trooper Rob Hicks said the driver of the van was flown to the hospital with serious injuries.

Students who were on the bus have been taken to Marion Volunteer Fire House to be picked up by their parents.

Hicks said the crash is currently under investigation and it is unknown why the van rear ended the bus.

Route 11 is back open after being shut down in the Marion area.
